Mr. Adams is currently involved in many entrepreneurial ventures along with balancing time with his family.
Previously, in 1995, Adams co-founded and was president of Hiway Technologies, Inc. In three short years, Hiway Technologies became the world's largest web hosting company with 240 employees and 150,000 accounts in 135 countries. In 1999 Hiway was acquired by Verio (NASDAQ: VRIO). In 2000, Verio was acquired by NTT Communications (NYSE: NTT).
A firm believer that success begins with education, Adams was appointed by the Governor of the State of Florida to serve on the Board of Trustees of Florida Atlantic University. Mr. Adams also launched the Adams' Center for Entrepreneurship at Florida Atlantic University. In addition, he serves on the advisory board of the University of Florida Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Adams also supports and is on the Board of Trustees of the George Snow Scholarship Fund, which provides four-year scholarships to Palm Beach County students. Adams continues to donate time and resources as a mentor and big brother.
As a result of his achievements, the Greater Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce named Adams their 1997 Small Business Person of the Year. In 1998, Adams also won the prestigious Ernst & Young Florida Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 1999 the Florida Atlantic University National Alumni Association inducted Mr. Adams into the Alumni Hall of Fame. In 2001, Adams was awarded the Jim Moran Institute's Entrepreneurial Excellence Award at Florida State University. In 2002, Mr. Adams was the recipient of the Gainesville Entrepreneur of the Year Award from the University of Florida, the Excalibur Award from the South Florida Sun-Sentinel as the Palm Beach County Business Leader of the Year, and was inducted into Junior Achievement's Business Hall of Fame. In 2005, Florida Atlantic University presented their Talon Award for community leader alumnus to Mr. Adams.
Mr. Adams is a graduate of Florida Atlantic University’s College of Business with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration. A Florida native, Adams grew up in Keystone Heights, Florida. Mr. Adams and his wife, Shelagh, along with their four children, have resided in Boca Raton since 1985.
Mr. Janetis has been active in the PERS sector for nearly a decade. A natural entrepreneur, Mr. Janetis was the founder and CEO of HomeMed Systems, a provider of safety products to seniors and persons with disabilities. HomeMed serviced contracts with state and county agencies in three states and had over 40 distributors in 10 states. HomeMed Systems has been featured in Good House Keeping and Ladies Home Journal. Prior to founding HomeMed Systems in 2002. Mr. Janetis was the 2006 SBDC & Benjamin Franklin Technology Partners grand-prize winner of the Big Idea business plan contest for the Alzheimer’s tracking system concept.
Mr. Janetis attended Bucknell University and studied International Relations and East Asian studies.
During the past 16 years, Robert S. Flippo has worked in both start-up environments as well as fortune 50 companies. Mr. Flippo has experience in forming high-performance teams and has held executive roles at high-tech companies such as Motorola, Boca Research, and Emergin Incorporated.
In his most recent role as Vice President of Operations at Emergin, Mr. Flippo was responsible for all aspects of the company operations including the function of CFO and COO. Mr. Flippo joined Emergin as the Director of Engineering and Operations in 2003 and successfully scaled the company from $2.4M in revenue in 2003 to $15M+ in 2007. He also raised $4M in funding from a strategic partner in 2006 and negotiated a successful exit sale of the company in December 2007 with Philips Electronics. He joined Emergin from Motorola's Wireless Messaging Division, where he served as Director of Product & Business Development. At Motorola, Mr. Flippo was responsible for managing Motorola's advanced messaging product lines, patent licenses, and contract negotiations. Prior to joining Motorola, he served as Director of Engineering at Zoom Telephonics Inc. (formerly Boca Research), a leading modem and networking company, where his duties included managing software development efforts for realtime embedded operations systems.
Mr. Flippo holds an MBA from the University of Miami, a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Florida, and has completed coursework in business management at Harvard Business School. Mr. Flippo also holds 4 US patents for communications systems.
